On a Night of Gold and Glam, The Big Fall Ball Finds Great Success

SCOTIA, NY – On October 14, 2021, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region (BBBSCR) hosted their inaugural gala, The Big Fall Ball, to raise funds needed to sustain their mentoring efforts in 2021. The event, hosted at the picturesque River Stone Manor, brought together supporters from all over the Capital Region. Event attendees were treated to a fall themed sit-down dinner, spirits, courtesy of DeCrescente Distributing Company and Saratoga Eagle Sales and Services, Inc., and music from Brown Liquor Social Club. BBBSCR’s Lisa O’Sullivan, Program Director, and Enriquette (Queta) Duran, Program Manager, appeared on a podcast called “Other Voices” last month, giving an  in-depth look at what our mentors do at BBBSCR. ALBANY, NY — Smiles could be seen all around The Blake Annex as Bigs and Littles gathered for the inaugural Big Back-to-School Party. Celebrating the end of summer, BBBSCR provided Bigs, Littles and their families with many fun and engaging activities, highlighted by a backpack and school supply giveaway. To kick off the festivities, a slogan contest had Bigs and Littles create their best one-liners around what BBBSCR meant to them. “If you have a lot of time, get a partner in crime”, and “There is nothing better than crafts with my Big”, stood out from the many thoughtful and clever submissions. On June 30, 2021, BBBSCR held an appreciation reception for its Matchmaker Giving Society, in its new office space located at The Blake Annex in downtown Albany. The evening provided guests the opportunity to see friends, old and new, after nearly 18 months due to COVID-19. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region has announced the following Big/Little matches as nominees for its 2021 BBBSCR Match of Year. The nominees were selected based on the strength of their relationship and three key outcomes which include educational success, risk avoidance, and pro-social behaviors. Congratulations!
